Weak CSD. Can't get above 1000 ppm strength???

I have been using aquarium bubbler method with a baby bottle warmer. I also use a chain of 5 bottles to capture any remaining gases that are not absorbed by the previous bottles. I don't use the bubbler stones.... yet. (just read about it now)

I can never seem to get a solution of more then 1000ppm. Its fine since I use a 1ml CDS = 1 drop MMS.

Just to make sure I am testing correctly. I have 0-500 test strips. I put one ml of CDS and 9ml of water.
What ever results I get I multiply by 10. The test are always 100 on the test strip.

My guess is that you're losing the gas into subsequent bottles, or you've got a leak somewhere, around the nipple or something. I will say, I've never seen a 5 bottle make up. How much MMS and CA are you using? When using 30ml of each, I usually get 2 baby bottles of 6000, and 1 of less. I do my bottles one at a time, and don't worry about the small amount that leaks out - and I don't use an aquarium pump, nor a bubbler. The one time I had less than that in ppms, the HDPE tubing pulled the nipple out of true and I lost gas at the mixing bottle.

Are you mixing the 5 bottles and measuring? How much mms and citric acid are you reacting? How long do you run the system? Are you run the air flow full rate?

I produce CDS all the time now. 1 oz of mms , 1 oz of citric acid in a 5 oz baby bottle. the receivers are 3 8 oz baby bottles . I heat the reactor bottle in a mini crock pot (so not really hot ~ 120 F) and I put the receivers in an ice bath. I throttle the bubbling rate down to just have bubbling in all receiver bottles ( I put a "T" in the output line of the pump with a valve on it - so the pump runs full flow and I vent the excess pressure out the "T") . My main source of leaking has been at the receiver bottle caps so I cut the nipples off another set of nipples to produce washers so there is double thickness washer seals. I also have sealed the hoses into the nipples with silicon sealant - mainly for structure i don't have to inspect the whole apparatus for hose slippage, I'm using aquarium silicon tubing . I run for ~ 40 minutes and mix the 3 bottles - the results are reliably at 6000 ppm.

I always do a test run with just water in a reactor bottle to ensure everything is together properly before switching to a mms / acid mix. That's better than working "live" with CD gas all over the place.

I don't use bubbler stones as (before I used a pump) I had the plastic barb melt closed and had a line blow off.

@pam it would be nice to get an image of your set up. Last time I used 30ml of citric acid and 30ml of Sodium chlorite.
Each recipient bottle is 500ml.

I ran last time with the lowest possible bubbles for an hour

I usually keep the receiver water in fridge until I use it. I will try to do set up my bottles in an ice bath for next time.

As you can see in the video I can adjust the air flow. I put the minimum air needed so the air circulates through the 5 bottles.

I used nipple baby bottles for the MMS and CA mix but the heat created a leak as the nipple got soft. So decided to use a HDPE pill bottle with a hole drilled on the cap which enables the tube to have a tight seal yet air still flows. I cut the end of the tube at a slant to enable me to slip it through the hole more easily.

I will test my leaks and use silicone to seal the leaks.

I wouldn't bother with the soap test - if you have a leak you will surely smell it.

Looks like a good set up.

The situation you're facing is that you're producing 2.5 litres ( 5 bottles X 500 ml) of CDS with a 30 ml reactor mix. I'm producing ~750 ml of cds with the same charge. So your options would be to do a larger reactor charge or just mix the first 3 bottles or something like that to get a higher ppm. I presume you are seeing a colour gradient with the collector bottles - the darker the colour the stronger the CDS ppm.

Yes I am producing 2.5 L but if the gasses stays in the first bottle mostly the other bottles shouldn't change color. But of course their is always a little bit escaping even from the first until it is fully saturated. I guess the higher ppm you are getting comes from the colder receiver bottles which I have not tried yet. Also I imagine the bubbler stones (if I can find one that does not disintegrate from mms) will help to give me even higher ppm as well (my theory).

I will seal up the setup with silicone and bath the receiver bottles in ice next time and report on my results here.

My receiver bottle(s) is(are) room temp.

BTW there is a hole in the last bottle.

I will test for leaks, add bathroom silicone where the tubes meet a bottle and add an ice bath for my next batch of CDS.
I will report my results then.

@steve I would like more info on forced air (I guess you mean aquarium pump) system and high pressure activation.
